This Woolly Mammoth carving is carved out of Woolly Mammoth Ivory Tusk and weighs 88.5 ct. Mammouth is the name for several large prehistoric elephants of the extinct genus Mammuthus, which ranged over Eurasia and North America. The shoulder height of the Siberian, or woolly, mammoth, which roamed throughout the Northern Hemisphere, was about 9 ft (2.7 m). Mammuthus (mammoth) were a genus of elephants that were adapted to steppe and tundra Arctic habitats. The tusks were elongated and strongly curved, and the skull was shorter and higher than that of other elephants. Mammuthus Primigenius, lived from about 2 million years ago to 9,000 years ago during the last ice age: the Pleistocene Epoch. This carving is of material that is about 40,000 years old and was found by miners in Alaska and Northwest Canada along the Yukon Drainage. It was then hand carved in Indonesia. The process complies with all US Fish and Wildlife regulations. This FANTASTIC 3D ONE OF A KIND Carving weighs 88.5ct and measures approx: 62.9 x 25.0 x 17.4mm. Comes in it's own custom made box!!!!!
