Description

There is huge international interest in Australian Indigenous art, the oldest ongoing tradition of art in the world,

99.9% Pure Silver

The coin is struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver.

Unusual Rectangle Shape

The rectangular coin is the perfect shape for the Indigenous-style art portrayed on its reverse.

SIZE 48X 12 MM

Reverse Design Inspiration

Created by Darryl Bellotti, an Indigenous artist of both Yamatji and Nyoongar descent, the design is inspired by his boyhood memories of a hunting trip in north-western Australia.  The kangaroo is surrounded by patterns of dots, symbolising the hunters’ journey, and circles, representing the places where they stopped.

Australian Legal Tender

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination on its obverse.

Illustrated Presentation Pack

The Kangaroo Dreaming coin is housed in a beautifully illustrated presentation pack which includes Darryl Bellotti’s signature and his evocative description of hunting in the Australian bush.

Certificate of Authenticity

The pack incorporates a Certificate of Authenticity.

Mint-to-Order

The coin is struck on a mint-to-order basis only.  Orders will be accepted by the Mint until the end of March 2009, after which production will cease and the final mintage will be declared.
