EUDIALYTE IS A REALLY UNUSUAL MATERIAL. IT WAS DISCOVERED FRIST ITHE THE JULIANEHAAB DISTRICT OF GREENLAND IN 1819 BUT NOW MOST COMES FROM KOLA PENINSULA IN NORTHERN RUSSIA.

THE BEST SAMPLES ARE ONES THAT HAVE LARGE SEMI-TRANSPARENT CRYSTALS OF DEEP RED COLOR EMBEDDED IN MATRIX OF BLACK GREY AND WHITE.

IT RANKS 5 TO 5.5 ON THE MOH'S SCALE OF HARDNESS WITH A SPECIFIC GRAVITY OF 2.9.
