Description

This exquisite stone is a Demantoid garnet.

It is from Russia and has the tell-tale horsetail(byssolite)inclusions.

It is a Grade AAA color, VVS stone….I like the VVS. These are generally small garnets not often getting to the 1 ct. size. Once you start getting to that size, demantoids start getting very included, sometimes almost to the point of déclassé.

The pictures(from behind) show what looks to be a chip in the stone, it is natural inclusion. There is also one row of facets in the pavilion that are unevenly large.

No too sure what that was about but it looks as if they were trying to cut an inclusion out.

It had to be horrifying …

… the stone won't talk about it.

Under any circumstance it DOES NOT affect the apperance of this stone or its beauty.

To find one this size AND VVS is a rare treat for me, as these are my absolute favorite garnet, bar none.

Wanna know why?…..

It’s because that demantoid garnets(and sphene) have a higher dispersion than a diamond.. “ But tell us what that means, Uncle….”

What that means is that demantoid garnet( and a sphene) have a higher ability to break light into spectral colors than a diamond…… and that equals rainbow.

A better display of fire than any diamond you ever saw of of equal clarity.

Period

Now, with in reason…..there’s no purples and no bright reds….

But it has every other color of light covered by it’s fire.

Demantoid garnets are named demantoid because demantoid means “diamond like”.

This gem is not to let that down. So go get it!

You wont’ find one this clear and this inexpensive again until…

… til …

…until I get another one!

Demantoid garnets wholesale from 40.00-6000.00 @ carat

350.00 @ carat ......

dirt cheap for a VVS demantoid....

I don't like that one row of facets...

it screws up the symmetry...

..not that you can see to tell.....

.....it just bugs me.......

..... alot .............

and yes......

I am anal.....

AS WITH ALL MY STOCK, IF YOU AREN'T 100% SATISFIED, WARM AND FUZZY ABOUT THIS STONE.....SEND IT BACK FOR A FULL REFUND. I WON'T HAVE A PROBLEM RESELLING IT.
