The founder of this stone is named George Kunz. Kunzite was discovered in early 1902.
The colour of Kunzite is purple, sometimes pink and comes from the spodumene variety. To intensify Kunzite’s color, it is irradiated. The color of Kunzite is from manganese. Sunlight can fade the color of Kunzite and exposure to strong heat will fade its color as well.
Kunzite’s color may appear violet pink or either colorless depending on the angle on where you look. Stronger color Kunzite is of course more valuable than the lighter colored ones.
