Quartz (SiO2). Quartz is the most abundant single mineral on earth.
It makes up 12% of the earths crust, occurring as a variety of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.
Quartz is commonly separated into two groups depending on the size of the individual grains or crystals; macrocrystalline quartz in which individual crystals are distinguishable with the naked eye, and cryptocrystalline quartz in which the individual crystals are too small to be easily distinguishable under the light microscope.
Some of the macrocrystalline quartz varieties are: Amethyst, Ametrine, Cat's-eye Quartz, Citrine, Phantom Quartz, Rock Crystal, Quartz, Rutilated Quartz and Smoky Quartz.
Rose quartz balances the emotions, giving inner peace and harmony, and enhances one's sensitivity to beauty, art and music. It is also said to calm aggression and resentment while increasing self-esteem and self-confidence, and to enhance one's compassion, patience and forgiveness. It is said to enhance your capacity to love others and yourself.
----Quartz-----
Quartz is known as the most common mineral found on the surface of the Earth. A significant composition of many igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks, the natural form of silicon dioxide is found in a range of different varieties of colors.
Quartz (Silica): as a crystal, quartz is considered as a semiprecious gem stone. Some Cryptocrystalline forms may also be considered as gem stones such as jasper, onyx, agate, carnelian, chalcedony, etc. Other Crystalline gem varieties include amethyst, citrine, rose quartz, smoky quartz, etc. Quartz is used for pressure gauges, oscillators, resonators, and wave stabilizers; Quartz also has the ability to rotate the plane of polarization of light and its transparency in ultraviolet rays it is used in heat-ray lamps, prism, and spectrographic lenses. Quartz are also often used in the manufacture of glass, paints, abrasives, refractories.
Quartz may have a number of assorted impurities, thus creating different color varieties. Purple quartz is commonly known as amethyst; Milky Quartz is white; black is known as smoky quartz; pink is known as rose quartz, and yellow or orange is known as citrine.
Quartz is used as an important tool for a large number of products like cell phones,
electronic games, computers, televisions, ipods and other electronic devices. The Quartz
were also manufactured for electronic grade purposes.
