The most common treatment for ruby is heat treatment. Stones, generally before they are cut, are heated to between 1700 to 1800 degrees Celsius (3100-3300 degrees F) for several hours. Heating often improves both color and clarity. Our Main vendor supplies all treatment disclosures to us, We have received notice of heat treatment only. Many ruby gems are being fissure filled to make less expensive rough more beautiful. The main reason for this type of treatment is the U.S Government has passed laws forbidding rubies from burma - china to enter the USA, Therefore the only legal rubies to enter will come from mainly Africa. With product needs still up this causes all rough to be used no matter the grade so that is why The first step is to attemp to fix and sell all rough. So we are seeing much more fissure filled ruby on the market this year. We do not dis-agree with this technique we just feel some sellers are not disclosing these facts, This fact can make the different in a great deal of money when you buy gems for gain.
