hHi This stone looks just like the stone in the forum under synthetic quartz-is this a man made stone too.Sylvia
Hokulea, September 24, 2008:
Ms. Sylvia,
The phrase " Man-made" is not relitive here, meaning no disrespect to yourself.
The phrase " man-made" specifically refers to stones made in a laboratory. Synthetics are man made.
The stone is a natural topaz , but, as with all blue topaz it has been bombarded with radiation to change it's color to blue. London Blue is the hue, to be exact.
It's hardness is that of topaz, 8.0 mohs, and it's refractive index and relative density is also of topaz.
Typically quartz is " cake and baked". They heat it with various different elements such as vandium, chromium, beryllium and others to change the quartz' original color. Sometimes the also heat and/ irradiate them also. Which is how the bi color quartz are " created ".
This and all of my stones are natural.
I do not deal in synthetics.
I only deal in cake and bake pink topaz ( the fuschia pink) and I always disclose them as treated.
Blue topaz is not a naturally occuring color. All blue topaz has been irradiated to my knowlege.
Under all circumstances...... I don't sell quartz........
I hope this has answered your question but feel free to ask anything at any time.
I assure you a quick response.
humbly,
Daniel Bunn
