DISCIPLINE BUYER.

GemRockAuctions has adopted this strategy for our verified sellers.

A Discipline buyer has the following strategy for buying.

DP buys quality stock to sell to his repeat customers

DP If visiting trade show they buy quality gemstones for fair price at start of show.

DP will ask precise questions and keep checking and interrogating to make sure seller knows his gems.

DP will check history of Sellers Company and be suspect of upstart companies

DP mixes and shares information with other DP and give references for good sellers.

DP also checks source accuracy and get certificates done at random

DP will keep abreast of up to date information in the industry

UNDISCIPLINE BUYER

UB will visit trade show and wait till end of show to buy bargains at discount price as UB is motivated by quick profit only

UB does not ask correct questions or no questions at all and says he buys from reputable companies only.

UB deliberately does not check, counter check or get gems checked as they are not interested if source description accurate

UB buys close out stock on EBay or other internet sites for high mark up

Some examples on difference between these two  types of  gemstone buyers.

925 SILVER

Most countries are very accurate about hallmark for silver 925

But some Chinese companies use same casting for base metal and have hallmark stamp 925

DB picks up a 20 carats pendant for $8.00 and sees stamp but realizes instantly it is rhodium plated base metal and leaves it .

UB will pick up same pendant and think cheap and buy and start negotiating for more discount

RUBY

DB sees glass filled ruby clean crystal at $1.50 per carat  and knows it is heavily glass filled and doesn’t buy.

UB sees same and sees quick profit as so clean a gemstone and starts negotiating again

I was told you cant check exactly how much a ruby is glass filled, but after this show I can pick if ruby small amount glass filled say 20% to heavily glass filled up to 85% or natural heat treat only.

AMERTRINE

DB  understands this gemstone and difference in price for quality.

UB buys this gemstone for quick profit.

At BK show sellers offered parcel deals from $4.00 to $10 per carat, some had 100 carat parcels for $2.00 per carat but lower quality.

Top rough was offered at $50 to $70 per piece.

Now you see clean vvs top quality amertrine selling for $1.00 per carat.

That’s because its grown man made synthetic made by Solution growth Synthesis.

.

CORNFLOWER BLUE QUARTZ

DB dosnt even pick up this gemstone.

UB sees huge  profit .

Years ago they maybe would use quartz and treat but not now.

This stone is made from Solution growth Synthesis and takes 60 days to grow and makes few kilos in one patch.

It is said many millionaires have been made from this stone as its synthetic

SUMMARY

All sellers have to agree to the principles of a Discipline buyer.

Seller with 100 items has to have 5 gemstones certified BEFORE  they are upgraded
