Jewellery Cleaning Tips

A sensible Jeweller will check jewellery before subjecting it to an ultrasonic cleaner. Ultrasonic is the quickest way to clean jewellery, however it may also do damage to the

Gemstone.

Sudsy ammonia or common ammonia is commonly used for cleaning jewellery.

How to clean our jewellery

  • Jewellery must be soaked   overnight
  • The cleaning solution must be warmed to speed up the cleaning process
  • An old toothbrush may be used to scrape /brush off old grime from the jewellery
  • The jewellery must be rinsed well.

Opals stones are not as hard as other gemstones so be careful not to put it in hot solution.:

Pearls and some porous gems are sensitive and must not be subjected to chemical solutions.

Silver Jewellery cleaning

Line up a non metallic container with aluminium foil, fill out with hot water adding

a handful of washing soda, put all your jewellery and the tarnish will be gone in a few minutes.

The tarnish will fade in a few minutes.

Make sure that you remove the silver jewellery, don’t let them dry but use

Use a drying towel or buff dry to create a luster effect.

Remove your silver from the solution and, using a soft towel, buff them dry.

If unsure, you have to contact a reputable jeweller to clean your jewellery.
