GEM TRADERS started trading in July 2005 as at that time the owners Wayne and Estela were wholesaling opals all over Australia and New Zealand and buyers asked for other gemstones that would compliment opals.Gem traders has mining connection to obtain Fluorescent minerals from Mt Isa in central Australia, many of these are rare minerals that fluorescent under ultra violet lamps using short wave and long wave lamps, These are unusual minerals and are popular with rock collectors worldwide
We already had connections with overseas companies buying our opals and used them to source gemstones from around the world that we could sell in Australia.
Now our Gemstone s are offered on GemRockAuctions.
We still have sales rep that calls on shops in Aussie.
Gem traders offers wholesale gemstones from Asia, and south America
From Asia we source direct with gemstone factories and gemstone wholesalers and source directly, rubies,sapphires,garnets and gemstone carvings.
We originally had a cutting factory in hcm vie man for several years and sourced directly from ruby n sapphire mine sin Laos and Cambodia, today very small amount gemstones are sourced from this area. Even Thailand is producing less amounts of gemstones and now most gemstones from Thailand are treated.
We source amethyst gemstones direct from brazil and have had these faceted in Korea and china. Korea costs 2-3 times to cut each stone but the finish is far superior to Chinese cut amethyst or Ametrine.
We also collect mineral specimens and these are popular now for collectors especially minerals with 2 or3 mineral compositions, even quartz or mica with emerlds, rubys look spectacular.
Agate gemstones have been popular for centuries and always will be as price is very reasonable and patterns are spectacular.
With mining operations world costing more I can only see agate stay as a popular gemstone.
