SPINEL - MAHENGE
Grade: SI
Cut: Square
Treatment: None
Spinel is the great impostor of gemstone history: many fine historic red spinels have been confused for rubies. Even when people learned that gems of the same color are not necessarily the same kind of material, they still had difficulty separating red spinel and ruby. Not only do the two gems have the same color and fluorescence, but they are often found together in the same mines, and ruby’s physical properties are very similar to spinel’s; ruby is only slightly more dense and slightly harder. As an example, the so-called “Black Prince’s Ruby” in the Crown Jewels of England is actually a large, a magnificent 160-carat red spinel. Spinel also occurs in spectacular colors of pink, violet, blue and orange. Green spinels are rare, and colorless stones are virtually nonexistent.
The intense, rich hues of these gemstones, combined with their great rarity and extremely low price, make them great purchases for anyway hunting for a bargin. This Spinel is natural and unheated. Spinel is classified as a Type 2 gemstone. This means that small inclusions will not detract from the value of the stone.

Why are users outbidding themselves?
When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a user is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on that users behalf, incrementally increasing the bid to maintain their position as the highest bidder, up to the specified maximum.
When there is an icon indicating 'Auto Bid,' it means our system is actively placing bids for the user based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if users are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the users maximum limit.
