ORIGIN : MADAN, BULGARIA
Madan, in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria, just north of the frontier with Greece, is an ancient ore-miners’ settlement. The history of mining in the Madan region extends back at least as far as the Thracians in the fifth century B.C. where the extraction of lead ore began.
Here is a fantastic larger example, and one of the last I have left for offer, from the Madan ore field in Bulgaria consisting of well shaped iron oxide stained UV reactive Manganoan Calcite crystals, which glow a delightful sweet pink color under long wave ultraviolet light (see pictures) on terminated Quartz crystals. Some Quartz crystals are also stained yellow. Pyrolusite dendrite inclusions present. Specimen is amazing under magnification as there are numerous features to explore, view the interesting Pyrolusite inclusions all over the specimen close up along with the yellowish colors the crystals have due to the iron oxide, wonderful formations. Colors contrast wonderfully. Specimen will look great on display in your collection. Highest bidder will not be disappointed.
