CHERRY BLOSSOM FLOWER SPECIMEN
IN HOST ROCK.
This is a rare mineral found only in kameoka Japan which is near Kyoto. Collecting this mineral is now banned with the site closed to collectors.
Golden to pink or silvery flowers
They were formed 100 million years ago by intense heat. They are found in a fine grained rock called homfels but this specimen is a harder host rock.
It is a Cordierite crystal replaced by Mica .It is recovered from weathered Holnfels.
The cross section looks like Cherry Blossom flower and this is why it is called Cherry blossom stone.
