This gemstone comes with the pictured appraisal certificate from a GIA Graduate Gemologist in the San Diego Jewelry District.  For those who don’t know how appraisal values are determined, there are two ways that appraisal values are determined.  Some appraisers give the retail value of the piece, whereas others give a replacement value.  The appraisal for this stone is not a retail value.  As you can see, it’s a replacement value, meaning, it’s the value it would cost an insurance company to replace the item.  And because insurance companies use wholesalers to replace lost or damaged goods, replacement values are considered wholesale, generally around 50% of a retail value.  That means that this stone, in a jewelry store, would sell in the range of $1,800.  And as you can see, the price we are asking is well below even the wholesale replacement value.
