Wavellite was first discovered in Devon, England, but can be found all over the globe. Our own crop comes directly from mines in Arkansas. Colors range from deep Emerald green to bright Apple and pale Sea-green, depending on the levels of vanadium in the structure. The "host stone" these Wavellite minerals occur with make up the matrix, and can range from pale gray to soft beige or deep black. The radiating pattern visible in some pieces is sometimes called a "cat's eye," and is effectively the cross-section of Wavellite's many botryoidal spheres.
I'm shocked at how bad the quality of these beads were! I bought again because the first string was excellent. The second string had too few beads and they weren't at all as shown in the photograph. Extremely disappointing :(
