CHERRY BLOSSOM STONE
This is a natural stone found only at Kameoka near Kyoto. It is a Cordierite crystal substituted by Mica .It is recovered from weathered Holnfels.
The small hexagonal structure represents where indialite used to be so they make the petals of the cherry blossom flower.
The pink colour is rarer but the structure of the stone is important too.
The cross section looks like Cherry Blossom flower and this is why it is called Cherry blossom stone.
it is a interesting collectors item as collecting is not allowed now.
NOTE we purchased these direct from the collector who spent hours painstakingly setting them out in the boxs. So we have taken the photos in the box with the lid on and weighted a empty box to get the weight. The stones vary in depth from 4 to 10 mm so the weight and size is only a guide.
The Gemstone Sheriff program allows our members to request an audit on any auction, which is completed by an independent Gemologist who assesses the accuracy of the item description and pictures.
