It was marked as a precious mineral, which compromised with layers of quartz in various colors. Etymology traces the roots of the word back to the Latin word “Achates”.
This Agate is considered as chalcedony quartz that produces in concentric layers with diverse colors. The striped and bands, which can be similar to the scallops or eyes are even considered as one of a kind of stone growth, and are produced with an extended method.
In addition to, feather agate is also established as a round nodule, with a substantial and unfilled cavity within a host rock. In fact, it was not formed out in a single gem, but with delicately, grounded micro-crystals. So, the remarkable color bands are suitable to the small variations, and the grain dimensions of these stones.
Most of the time, it was presented as a cabochon of feather agate, which was said to be a latest accumulation to the lapidary world, which originated from Indonesia. This example attributes a straw or feather-like prototype in cream, against a setting of earthy tones that quite similar to a rich, dark-chocolate vanishing mocha toward the slighter one.
