Intarsia originated and invented in Florence, Italy.

Intarsia is a technique in advanced lapidary where many colors and types of gemstones are cut

and put together to form geometrical designs or pictures. The cuts are pieced together to fit

exactly on the design created.

Skillful artisans/jewellers produce such quality designs which are impacted on the matching of

the colors of the gemstones and the design pattern. Individual stones are cut and shaped and

fitted into the design and like a puzzle these cut gemstones are put together on a flat surface

with another stone as backing, then each side is polished.

When creating geometric patterns, excellent quality stones are used which complements the skills of the artisan/jeweller.
