Water Buffalo are not an endangered species, they are found throught the southeast Orient and they are a pivotal mainstay of the farm as the Plow Horse or Oxen once were here in the USA. In short they help cultivate rice fields. Unlike a cow they do not produce milk, however they are a main source of protein in that region. Farmers and the general population, like our American Indians hold a deep respect for all life. They waste nothing, naturally there is a use for every part of the Water Buffalo and the beautiful artwork as presented is one use of this horn. For many, and especially to the Oriental culture Water Buffalo Horn represents such lofty virtues as Strength, Grace and Prosperity. It is belived that displaying a carving of the horn in the home demonstrates ones respect for all wildlife. It is sincerely hoped that you share this view. Proud owners find their Horn Carving is imbued with natural colors, thus its appearance is everlasting, while maintenance is no more than a simple dusting or wiping and a periodic application of lemon oil or a fine furniture polish to the teak wood base. No polish is required, nor is recommended for the artifact. This Owl Measures 35.0 x 27.2 x 52.6mm.
