CHRYSOPRASE This material comes from the famous Maryborough mine in Queensland, Austraia, which is now closed. The stone is a slice from a large chunk which we have drilled and polished both sides.It has a unusual appealing green-some of the pieces look dyed but they are natural. Natural Untreated Hardness: 7 Weight: 106 cts app Size : 50x 33x9.8 MM app Chysoprase is a close relative of Carnelian, but is bright green, which comes from the trace amounts of nickel. Like Carnelian, Chrysoprase is a variety of Chalcedony, a crypto - crystalline variety of Quartz, and is translucent to semi - transparent with a waxy luster.
