Almandite Garnet, also referred to as Almandine, is one of the stones that belong to the huge family of minerals known as Garnet. Almandite Garnet is the most abundant of all of the Garnet varieties, but finding material that is facet grade is fairly rare. Almandite Garnet has a deep red color however it is often found with a mixture of red, orange and even purple. The deep red color is due to the presence of Iron. Iron is also the reason why many Almandite Garnet can look very dark.
