The blue star sapphire has been nicknamed The Star of Adam. Gemologists in Sri Lanka claim that the largest blue star sapphire yet has been discovered in a mine in the country.
Sapphires are in the corundum family; and corundum can come in all colours of the rainbow. Sri Lanka is particularly famous for blue sapphires and salmon/coral padparascha sapphires. The name padparascha originates from the lotus flower.
Of the blues, Kashmir blue sapphires are the most famous but exceedingly rare as only a small number were mined and production stopped around the 1900s. Today, most of the world’s top quality sapphires come from Sri Lanka, Madagascar or Burma. Thailand mines a wider range of what is generally considered to be lower quality sapphires.

Why are users outbidding themselves?
When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a user is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on that users behalf, incrementally increasing the bid to maintain their position as the highest bidder, up to the specified maximum.
When there is an icon indicating 'Auto Bid,' it means our system is actively placing bids for the user based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if users are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the users maximum limit.
