Madan, in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria, just north of the frontier with Greece, is an ancient ore-miners’ settlement. The history of mining in the Madan region extends back at least as far as the Thracians in the fifth century B.C. where the extraction of lead ore began.

A delightful example with a nice sparkle from the Madan ore field in Bulgaria consisting of terminated  Quartz crysrtals along with shiny golden Pyrite cubes. Specimen is very interesting under magnification as there are features to explore, can you spot the iridescent Pyrite cubes with the rainbow colors and the interesting red inclusions in two Quartz crystals. Although crystals are obvious to the naked eye, specimen requires magnification in order to fully enjoy the range of interesting structures. Highest bidder will not be disappointed.
