Madan, in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria, just north of the frontier with Greece, is an ancient ore-miners’ settlement. The history of mining in the Madan region extends back at least as far as the Thracians in the fifth century B.C. where the extraction of lead ore began.

Here is a fantastic larger example, and 1 of the last few I have left for offer, from the Madan ore field in Bulgaria consisting of well shaped iron oxide stained UV reactive Manganoan Calcite crystals, which glow a delightful sweet pink color under long wave ultraviolet light (see pictures), with Pyrolusite dendrite inclusions along with terminated Quartz crystals. Specimen is very interesting under magnification as there are numerous features to explore, view the interesting Pyrolusite inclusions and formations. Colors contrast wonderfully.
