Gr 11 This natural Australian Torrington Emerald we cut and polished ourselves at our own lapidary. This is an excellent specimen of a Torrington emerald when cut along the c axis . Most stones are cut parallel to the C - axis in order to make full use of the rough material which is often a six sided crystal . with Torrington emeralds this is often done to display the stripes that Torrington emeralds are renowned for but if a stone is oriented so it is cut along the c-axis is is often more brilliant as can be seen in the video and photographs. It is difficult to get a Torrington emerald of this size when cut this way.
