Ametrine, also known as trystine or by its trade name as bolivianite, is a naturally occurring variety of quartz. It is a mixture of amethyst and citrine with zones of purple and yellow or orange. Almost all commercially available ametrine is mined in Bolivia.So, while ametrine is a great gemstone for use in jewellery, it should be treated with the proper care to prevent scratching and other damage. Like amethyst and citrine, ametrine rates aametrine emerald cut7 on the Mohs scale and has good toughness, so it is suitable for all jewellery types.
