| Laguna Agate cabochon pair Gorgeous Laguna Agate! Laguna Agate comes from Northern Mexico and is well known for its extremely tight banding and vibrant colors of reds! The Laguna Agate area is about 150 miles south of the U.S.-Mexican border, in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. It is found in several sites on the mountain covering a distance of over 4 miles. Agate is a member of the chalcedony family, or a microcrystalline quartz, and it has a hardness of about 7 on the Moh's scale. The name is derived from its occurrence at the Achates River in southwestern Sicily. |
