Trapiche sapphire is gem quality corundum. A trapiche is a gem with six-spoked growth features. They contain liquid,two-phase (a combination of liquid and gas), and solid fillings of magnesium-bearing calcite and dolomite. Trapiche sapphires, as well as trapiche gems, are rare. They are only found in a few locations, mostly in Mogok, Myanmar and Kashmir.

Trapiche sapphire is among the rarest of trapiche gems. Sapphire is the birthstone for September and used as gifts for a 45th Wedding anniversary. It is the national gemstone for Greece and the United States. The name sapphire comes from the Latin word sapphirus meaning “blue”.
