Large Sri Lankan Spinel of 4.45ct. The color of this spinel changes slightly depending on your lighting conditions: under daylight, it's a beautiful blue with a tiny touch of purple ! A Navy-Blue, a morning blue, like the morning sky ! Under artificial light like LED it's almost 50/50 blue-violet mixed. Under daylight, this blue is open, sparkly. Indeed, the tone of this crystal is medium to mediumdark. when there is low light this crystal is more in the dark direction than open, however, it opens immediately and very well with the daylight ! Most Sri Lanka Spinels are dark, dark mediumdark. A large 4.45ct crystal with this rather special blue and tone is unusual ‘ In addition, the clarity is eyes-clean face up and the oval cut is good to very good ! There are some few inclusions below the crown in the pavilion, they are clearly visible from the back side but face up, they are NOT visible ! Eyes-clean - VS - The crown is a little high but it is well cut, more or less centered culet with a beautiful straight step-pavilion ! 4.45ct Blue like the morning sky in daylight, medium to mediumdark tone, open color ! Eyes-clean face up and beautiful cut !
