COLOUR CHANGE GARNET
Origin: Madagascar, Bekily.
Color-change garnet is a rare and precious garnet from the Pyralspites series, which consists of Pyrope Garnet, Almandine Garnet, and Spessartite Garnet. This color-change garnet hybrid is primarily composed of Pyrope Garnet, Spessartite Garnet, and chromium and/or vanadium impurities. Cause of Color Change Color-change garnet has the ability to change color depending on the type of light source. The intensity of this color change can be truly spectacular, much more so than the change observed in most Alexandrites. Therefore, under normal daylight conditions, as mentioned above, most color-change garnets exhibit the following colors: blue-green, green, blue (rare), green-gray, brown, beige, and bronze. And can become, when viewed under incandescent light: pink, pinkish-orange to red, greenish-yellow, pinkish-red, light red, purple-red, blood red, bluish-green, light purple. The majority of color-changing garnets come mainly from Tanzania, Kenya, Sri Lanka and Madagascar. The color-changing garnet, commercially called Malaya Garnet or Malaia Garnet, has only been discovered to date in Africa and Madagascar (Bekily).
