Its name originates from the Russian tsars of the 17th century, who claimed exclusive rights to the pink topaz gemstones mined in Russia. This gemstone, resembling the color of the setting sun, is less common than other types of topaz, making it exceptionally valuable. Traditionally considered orange with red dichroism, imperial topaz can now be found in a range of hues including yellow, pink, red, lavender-pink, and peach-pink.
