Here is a little bit about Shangrila Gems: 

We are partners Sara-jane and Rakesh.  Sarajane is from London and Rakesh is from Dharamshala in Himanchal Pradesh – the North-East Himalayan region of India.  Often described as 'the last Shangri- la, hence our name.

Our mission is to bring you the best variety and quality of gemstones and jewellery items at reasonable prices.

Along with our sister company Newlands & Co. we are Corporate members of the British Gemmologial Association.  Our customers include High End European designers and gem resellers in the London Gem district (Hatton Garden)

We are based both in London and India – in the very beautiful Himalayan town of Dharamshala in Himanchal Pradesh (home of the Dalai Lama)

Terms and Conditions

1. Weight and size of gemstone may still vary slightly from piece to piece due to difference in calibration of weighing and measuring scales.

 2. The colour may not appear exactly as in real life due to variation between computer's monitor resolution and lights.

3.  Should you require goods to be sent by courier or another service please contact us and we will obtain a quote.

4. The buyer is fully responsible for any import customs duties and taxes in their country. We do not have any control over these duties, taxes & etc.

5.  Please send us an email if you would like us to open a box for you when you are making multiple purchases. When you have finished shopping we will send you a combined invoice.

6. All payments must be made in three days after the auction close, unless you notify us that you wish to make further purchases.

7. Items will be despatched within 48 hours from the date of receipt of the final payment.

8. Items may be returned within 14 days. The buyer is responsible for the return postage and the initial postage costs will not be refunded, unless there is an error on our part.

9. We do not charge a re-Stocking fee. So bid with the confidence of getting high quality with piece of mind guaranteed.

10. As of 24 September 2010 we changed our postage policy.  All items will be sent by Royal Mail air mail.   If you would like the goods to be sent by a special tracking service please pay the additional insurance fee or contact us with specific requirements.  Please also see our postage terms on each listing.  We recommend the purchase of this postage service for items of more than $60.

12. All postage receipts are kept. 

13. You may be charged import duties and taxes that are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Customs clearance charges are your responsibility. We have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they will be. As customs charges vary widely from country to country, please contact your local customs office for further information. If a shipment is rejected because of customs clearance charges, you will be responsible for any fees incurred.

14 The duty will not be refunded by the seller if the goods are returned with the duty un-paid. It is the responsibility of the buyer to reclaim the import duty from the corresponding national authorities when the goods are returned to us.

15. Should you return goods please return them in the exact same state and packaging in which they arrived. If there is any damage to the returned goods we may have a problem refunding you.

16.  We reserve the right to cancel a bid from a Gem Rock bidder. 

17. We make every effort to represent and describe our goods as thoroughly and in as much detail as possible. We point out any floors, including colour abnormalities and inclusions. When required we will photograph on different backgrounds for a true representation. Please remember items look larger in photos, so please be sure to check the measurements.

18. If you for any reason are unhappy with the item you received, please contact us prior to leaving negative feedback. We ALWAYS resolve any issue our customers may have. We want all our customers to be delighted with their purchases.

19. Combined shipping is offered for all items with a $1.90 handling fee per additional item.  This applies for all items except parcel lots and NR 1$ items.  And will be added up per lot.
