Scheelite typically occurs in shades of golden yellow, orange, honey-brown, or colorless, with high transparency and a refractive index close to that of diamond.

On the Mohs hardness scale, scheelite ranks around 4.5 to 5, making it relatively soft and best suited for collector specimens or jewelry with protective settings. Major sources include Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Austria, Bolivia, and the USA.
