Hauyne from Afghanistan. Beautiful miniature specimen with blue, massive material partly with sodalite and lasurite.
Haüyne is rarely found and faceted as a distinct gemstone. Collectors prize its beautiful, deep blue color, although it can also occur in other hues.
In addition to its scientific importance, Haüyne is also valued by collectors and enthusiasts for its vibrant blue color and distinctive crystal forms. Jewelry use is limited due to its relative softness and susceptibility to scratching, but well-formed crystals are highly sought after by mineral collectors.
A green Huayne (aka Hauynite) gemstone from Sar-e-Sang, Badakhshan province in Afghanistan. A rare gemstone, Huayne is a tectosilicate sulphate member of the feldspathoid group with chemical formula Na 3Ca(Si 3Al 3)O 12(SO 4) more often encountered as bright blue gemstones.
