Sphalerite is amazing gem stone from Spain . Most material is from the Aliva mine which produced the world best and largest transparent toffee-colored sphalerites until it closed in 1989. It is well known worldwide by collectors of rare gems and minerals.Some faceted stones look Spectacular.
Sphalerite is a soft stone. It’s hardness is only 3.5-4 on Mohs scale. its best suited to earrings or pendants.. It does have however both a very high refractive index and an extremely high dispersion, making this gem an extraordinary piece for gem collections.
