Yellow zircon is a semi-precious gemstone that's known for its bright, vivid color and is often used as an alternative to yellow sapphire:

• Color: Yellow zircon can range from pale lemon to deep golden hues. It can also have a rare property called tenebrescence, which causes the gem to appear brownish-yellow or orangey-yellow when stored in the dark, and then slowly turn back to its normal yellow color when exposed to light.

• Origin: Yellow zircon is found in East Africa, Sri Lanka, and Cambodia.

• Uses: Yellow zircon has been used in jewelry and other decorative items since ancient times. It was especially popular in Victorian and Art Nouveau jewelry.

• Properties: Zircon has variable fluorescence, and some crystals glow intensely under ultraviolet (UV) light. It's also birefringent, which is a remarkable feature that distinguishes it from other rocks.
