Freshly faceted brownish orange spinel just in from the lab. No abrasions on the facet edges. Pretty and rare colored spinel. Almost eye clean stone under close examination with bright light. Under magnification a veil under the crown has a little crystally flash at a specific angle that can be see with the naked eye when torched. Eye clean gem under regular light. I know I’m being picky describing this but I like to show that these are true gemstones and 99.99% what I describe is invisible to the naked eye. Almost no gem is internally flawless IF when torched and magnified. I make sure I roll the stone around when examining it as most inclusions can only be seen at certain angles with the light. Please see video and photos which are enlarged to make it easier see anything inside this high luster high quality certified no treatment gemstone.
Sri Lankan spinel gemstone. I try to price my stones below other sellers and try to make sure all customers are getting a true gemstone at a bargain price.
There is an article on this site about blue spinel titled “The rarest of them all”. It is located in the learn section under Additional Gemstone Information.
Spinel is rarely treated or heated as it naturally comes without many inclusions and heating does nothing to increase the beauty of the stones.
Spinel is rapidly becoming more popular. I’ve heard many gem affectionados state it was their favourite gemstone. It was once thought to be sapphire or ruby depending upon the color. The imperial crown housed in the tower of London has a large red spinel which was once thought to be a red ruby. It is named the Black Prince’s Ruby and has a recorded history dating back to 1366 AD.
Cobalt is the main colorant in blue spinels and are especially rare. For me I prefer them over sapphires. The better price, less inclusions and lower cost make it the better value. It is also a hardness of 8 which is only slightly under sapphire so is good for everyday wearing.

Why are users outbidding themselves?
When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a user is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on that users behalf, incrementally increasing the bid to maintain their position as the highest bidder, up to the specified maximum.
When there is an icon indicating 'Auto Bid,' it means our system is actively placing bids for the user based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if users are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the users maximum limit.
