Beautifully colored cobalt certified spinel from Sri Lanka.  Purchased in Ratnapura around 3 hours drive from Colombo.  This stone is either blue or violet depending on the light source.  Eye clean and loupe clean.  I’d say VVS as I couldn’t find anything with the loupe.  Stones this color are especially rare much more so than sapphires.  Plus they are first cousins and found in the same gem gravels together.  300 year ago they were believed to be the same stone but now we know they are only a related species.  

Video is taken in natural sunlight.  Photos are taken inside under LED light.  I like to shoot my photos outside in natural sunlight but I live in Canada so it is impractical for outside photography half the time.
