A beautiful Ceylan sapphire, with a very nice blue color ! This mythical gem belongs to the corundum family and can be declined in many colors: Green, orange, pink ... Nevertheless the most often found color in jewelry is of course blue, which has given to the sapphire its name: Sappir in Hebrew gave sappheiros in Greek then sapphirus in Latin, and has long been used to name a blue stone.

This one comes from Sri Lanka, the most famous origin for sapphires. Formerly called Ceylon, this island has indeed produced very good quality sapphires for a long time. Notice to gemologists : this one does not present any inclusions visible to the eye, but with a good
jeweler's loupe one will be able to observe magnificent color areas, completely natural and common in corundum family.

An intense shine, extremely hard and resistant (hardness of 9, very good tenacity), sapphire lends itself to all types of jewelry.
Note : 8.00 mm * 6.00 mm proportions make it very easy to mount, as a ring or as a pendant!

I select and examine carefully every gemstone I get before cutting them, and I’m extremely vigilant about the rough’s quality. Also you will not find here lab grown stones, synthetics, fissures filled or irradiated stones. If a gemstone may have been heated (which in jewelry is very usual for some species), I mention it systematically in description.
