Cutter comments :
Here is a beautiful tanzanite, gem that the American jeweler Tiffany introduced to the general public in the late 1960s, shortly after its discovery in mythical deposits in Tanzania such as the Merelani hills. In its natural state, Tanzanite clearly shows three colors: blue, pink and yellow. After heating it is only dichroic: blue and purple. Its unique color, its great clarity and its beautiful shine make Tanzanite a precious gem very appreciated after in jewelry.
This one is deep blue and purple, the color is intense, without any inclusions. It will appear blue at day light and more purple under artificial light. I cut it into a nice oval which gives it a remarkable shine, it is a unique piece. Tanzanite has a hardness of 6.5, and I therefore recommend mounting it as a pendant for example
L'Atelier Lazuli :
All the stones I sell are cut by myself at my workshop in Paris. Every gemstones from around the world have been cut to achieve the best possible color and brilliance. Also I always try when the rough’s shape allows it to offer an original and custom design.
I select and examine carefully every gemstone I get before cutting them, and I’m extremely vigilant about the rough’s quality. Also you will not find here lab grown stones, synthetics, fissures filled or irradiated stones. If a gemstone may have been heated (which in jewelry is very usual for some species), I mention it systematically in description.
Please feel absolutely free to contact me for every question, comment, personal project or simply to discuss with me about gemstones or gemcutting ! I will always answer as quick as possible.
