Snowflake Obsidian is natural glass (composed primarily of silicon dioxide (SiO2)) that contains internal inclusions (crystallites) of Phenocryst which produce the snowflake appearance when polished and is the result of lava that cooled quickly. It is normally black and opaque, with the appearance of white to gray "snowflakes". Snowflake Obsidian is known as "the stone of purity", bringing balance to the triune function.
