IRONSTONE AND OPAL

This is a interesting piece of natural  ironstone rough slice from the Yowah  opal field  Queensland Australia. This field is known for its famous opal nuts which contain precious opal.This material has the  opal embedded in the iron/sandstone matrix  so you can see the interesting patterns this white/caramel opal makes.. Only one nut in a thousand has a nice stone so we slice them all. This takes a great polish and will be fun to cut.

Note we use a Nikon camera that captures the mauve in blue stones which the eye cant see so consider this colour to be blue.
