Aquamarine is a semi-precious gemstone with a long history that dates back over 4,000 years:
Ancient Egyptians: Aquamarine was believed to belong to sea goddesses, and amulets made of the stone were worn for good health and pain relief. Beads made of aquamarine were also found with Egyptian mummies.
Ancient Greeks: The Greeks engraved designs into aquamarine stones to create intaglios. They also wore aquamarine talismans engraved with Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea.
