Padparadscha is the most coveted and rare variety of sapphire. The name padparadscha (sometimes spelled padparadsha) derives from the Sinhalese word padma radschen, meaning lotus blossom, as the stone is of a similar color to the lotus blossom. Most padparadscha gems are small, less than two carats in weight.
ACCENT STONES: A good alternative to diamonds at a fraction of the price. Replacement stones for high-end gold jewelry. Will make beautiful settings of all types.
