23.7ct unheated peach sapphire from Burma.
The sapphire is light peach pink, with orange streaking distinguishing the stone.
The stone is included, but the stone in changing light will more than make up for its initial meeting.
The orange streaking is underwhelmed in low light, surfacing in daylight.
This subdued effect in low light makes the stone very different in daylight or bright light.
It is also during warm light or low light that the stone reveals it is not a pink sapphire, but a peachy one.
Your eyes will discern the orange undertones of its pink hue as you bring the stone from light to shadow.
This is an old sapphire from Burma, cut for size and its uncommon 'lotus' hue.
It is also one of those few 'antique' sapphires where one awakens to its color gradually (ie. not cut for 'flashlight' but candlelight), since its light saturation (light hue) is key to its display.
Quite like the lighter spectrum of padparadscha sapphires, light-and-dark is potent in observing the personality of these transcendental hues.
This is certified by NGI (our local gem lab) as a padparadscha sapphire, but we are treating it as a light peach sapphire (since it is pointless to think of a pad in view of its inclusions).
The stone measures 18.26 x 14.22 x 9.26 mm.
All photos are taken in natural light, no additional lamp is used.
