Kunzite is a colour variety of Spodumene, from the Greek 'spodumenos', which means 'burnt to ashes', in reference to Spodumene's light grey colour. This mineral's colour variants are due to trace elements of iron (yellow to green), chromium (medium to deep green) and manganese (pink to purplish-red).
Kunzite is a variety of the mineral spodumene that forms in the monoclinic crystal system. Color(s): Light in tone, pink to bluish purple. Internal identifying characteristics: Kunzite rarely has inclusions, but being of pegmatitic origin, sometimes has a few fluid inclusions.
Strongly coloured kunzite is rare and thus correspondingly valuable. This gemstone is the youngest member of the spodumen family, to which the green or yellowish-green hiddenite, discovered about a quarter of a century earlier, also belongs.
Kunzite has a reputation for emotional healing with its ability to forge a harmonious connection between the heart and the mind. This crystal is celebrated for its capacity to soothe the soul, ease the heart, and clear the mind, creating a sanctuary of peace and tranquillity for those who engage with it.

This 880ct heart-shaped kunzite is from Brazil. The major sources of kunzite are Brazil, Afghanistan, Madagascar, and California.
What is known is that George Frederick Kunz, noted gemologist and mineralogist, verified it as a new variety of spodumene in 1902. It was voted to name the stone in honor of Kunz in 1903. Kunzite is sometimes called the evening stone since tends to fade in direct sunlight.

Why are users outbidding themselves?
When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a person is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on behalf of the bidder, incrementally increasing the bid up to the maximum to maintain their position as the highest bidder.
When there is an icon indicating 'Automatic Bid', it means our system is actively placing bids for the bidder based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if bidders are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the bidders maximum limit.
