Sinhalite is a rare borate mineral . It was first discovered in Sri Lanka, from which its name is derived (Sinhalese is the traditional name for the people of Sri Lanka). Sinhalite typically forms in metamorphic rocks and is often found as brown, yellow-brown, greenish, or colorless crystals.
