Rhodochrosite is a vibrant pink to deep red manganese carbonate mineral (MnCO3) known for its beautiful rose-like colors, often forming banded patterns with white/grey layers, stalactites, or crystals (rhombohedral/scalenohedral) with a vitreous to pearly luster. It's relatively soft (3.5-4 hardness), brittle, has perfect cleavage, and is used as a manganese ore, decorative stone, and gemstone, with iconic examples from Argentina (national gemstone) and Colorado (state mineral).
