This a farm harvested coral that has been dyed red.It i s illegal to deal or export natural red coral. This is a large bead of coral that has been drilled.

Coral are tentacled skeletal creatures building reefs in clear, warm seawaters. Once dead, the coral becomes grey colour, which is then permanently dyed a deep red colour.The hard skeleton of red coral branches is naturally matte, but can be polished to a glassy shine
